31DC2013 Day 24: Inspired by a Book!

Heeeey guys!! I'm sorry for the lack of posts but my laptop broke down and I couldn't post a thing during all this time... But obviously I continued my challenge as if nothing had happened and even though it's 2014 now (yay!) I'll keep calling it the 31 Day Challenge 2013. Maybe next time I do it later this year I'll take less time;)
Anyways, the book I read during the winter break was John Green's "The Fault In Our Stars". I really liked it, but I did not cry as I thought I would, only shed a tear or two.
Here's the cover of my book so you can see it if you haven't, which I doubt it lol.

And here's my nail art inspired by it. OF COURSE I had to use the "Okay?" "Okay." phrase, c'mon! It's the whole spirit of the book!

I used China Glaze Shower Together mixed with a couple drops of Nina French White (I was on a trip and just brought a few polishes). For the details I used black and white acrylic paint and Finger Paints Art Nouv-Yellow, China Glaze Cranberry Splash and China Glaze Shower Together.

I hope you liked this mani, and I've got plenty more for a daily basis for now;)

31DC2013 Day 20: Water Marble

Hello there glittery criatures of Planet Earth, it's almost Friday!!
Today is water marble day and I have to say I had an exhausting time with this one. I'm not very good at it and about a year ago I was obsessed with Colette's videos from My Simple Little Pleasures. I wasted a TON of nail polish, so for this particular challenge I decided to buy cheap ones from Wal-Mart since a friend had told me once they worked pretty good and they're only $10 pesos which is less than a dollar. I picked up a violet and green one and decided to give China Glaze Shower Together a go since I remember it worked and I hadn't used it in a while.
So yeah I did like eight attemps and only like six were the ones used for my both hands. It was all messy and took a long time but here it is.

Sooo technically the polishes I used are so cheap they didn't even had a name lol but the blue is China Glaze Shower Together and my white base is Nina French White.

Also, that beautiful glitter is Finger Paints Peacock Portrait. Look at those colors!! I saw it at Sally and couldn't help buying it instantly! Finger Paints has some really awesome glitters and this is definitely one of those.

Some more love to that glitter...

I liked the final result and was very happy to wear it. Also, Peacock Portrait is a glitter that will easily go to my most-used stash! The colors are so beautiful that I specifically tried to use the same colors and I'm telling you in person it looked pretty good.
Hope you enjoyed this and I'll see on my next post;) As I said before, the next part of the challenge it's all gonna be Inspired By Christmas... Song, Movie, Book, etc. I'm so looking forward to start it!

31DC2013 Day 8: Rainbow Nails!

Hey there, pretty baby tigers! Roaaaar! Happy hump day! I hipe everyone's having a great week so far:)
For today's challenge I wanted to try something I've never tried before and that was the dry marble! It is a bit of a mess but I liked the psychedelic effect it gave to my nails from hand distance.
This is something I'll be definitely trying again! I think that if you practice and get good at it you can make great designs.

I started with a white base color, then when it was completely dry I dabbed vertically all the colors in order on my nail and while it was still wet I used my smallest dotting tool to drag the polish from one side.

The colors I used were Orly White Tips, China Glaze With Love, China Glaze Roguish Red, Finger Paints Art Nouv-Yellow, a green neon from a spanish brand called Olé that has no name, China Glaze Shower Together, and Finger Paints Lavender Highlight.

I hope you liked this hot mess of a nail art, I hope next time I try this dry marble design I get a much better result. See you soon for the next challenge on the 31 Day Challenge 2013!

Colorblock ft. Dots!

Hello, lacquered unicorns! Happy monday to all of you! I know how mondays may suck but I'm on finals and I'm kinda sad I won't be having another ugly monday hating school:( Anyways, today I bring you this nail art based on Polish You Pretty's nail art tutorial. I looooved these colors together + the girls at PYP are always bringing up some very cool nail art! They were the first blog I ever saw when I started doing nail art, and by starting I mean putting three dots at the corner of my nail and even that would come out wrong!! Hahaha but practice makes perfect and I'm still learning but here it is.

I followed the tutorial, except I didn't use stripe tape and freehanded straight lines instead. The tools I used were scotch tape (for the division), a small dotting tool and a small nail art brush.

The colors I used were Finger Paints Black Expressionism, China Glaze Shower Together and China Glaze Surreal Appeal. I loved the way these last two colors worked together and how beautiful they looked. A combo I'll def use in the future!

Here's an indoors shot with natural lightning, so you can see it better.

The color changes a lot, huh? I hoped you liked this mani, and I'll see you soon pretty pretty unicorns!

Blue Gradient + Glitter!

Good afternoon sexy unicorns!! How are you feeling today? I'm feeling kinda down, don't know why... And I said to myself "Hey girl! We should def post some old nail art today!" and I was like "Yeah! Great idea!" So here I am.
I made this some time ago and I think it was my very first complete gradient nail art (my first try was for Valentine's Day). Back then I was also so very excited about my new China Glaze acquisitions... Bling It On and Graffiti Glitter! So I decided to use one of them here. I had heard so many good things about that collection that as soon as it came out here I bought my favorites!!
Well, in the end this is how it ended up looking like:

I used Orly White Tips, China Glaze For Audrey and China Glaze Shower Together to make the gradient using a make-up sponge.

Then I added one coat of China Glaze Bling It On to make it look more interesting and complex. Bling It On is a black and blue glitter on a clear base and it's really amazing and beautiful!!
Btw, I'm soooooorry (once again) for the crappy quality but this is the best I could get. :( #CameraPhoneProblems:(

I hope you liked this, I'll see you soon beautiful creatures!:)
